Tesla has introduced a new rear-wheel-drive Model Y variant in the U.S., starting at $45,990—or $37,490 after the federal EV tax credit. This version offers an EPA-estimated 357 miles of range, surpassing the AWD model by 30 miles. It accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 5.4 seconds and features a refreshed exterior design, improved efficiency, and faster charging capabilities. Deliveries are expected to begin in the coming weeks.

📉 Cybertruck Range Extender Canceled Amid Delays

Tesla has canceled the $16,000 Cybertruck range extender, which was intended to boost the vehicle's driving range significantly. Originally promised for mid-2025, the battery pack would have consumed one-third of the truck bed and was expected to increase the dual-motor model's range to around 445 miles and the tri-motor "Cyberbeast" to over 415 miles. The decision follows multiple delays and a prior 25-mile reduction in range estimates. Customers who reserved the extender with a $2,000 deposit have been refunded.

🌍 India Country Head Resigns Ahead of Market Entry

Prashanth Menon, Tesla's head of operations in India and chairman of Tesla India's board, has resigned after a nine-year tenure with the company. This move comes shortly before Tesla's anticipated entry into the Indian market, the world's third-largest auto market. Following his departure, Tesla's China-based teams will temporarily oversee operations in India, with no immediate replacement named.

📈 Tesla Stock Rises on U.S.-U.K. Trade Deal

Tesla shares closed up 3.1% today at $284.82, buoyed by President Donald Trump's announcement of a new trade agreement with the United Kingdom. The deal includes reduced tariffs on vehicles and car parts, benefiting automakers like Tesla. Despite this uptick, the company continues to face challenges, including declining sales in key markets such as China and Germany.

🤖 Robotaxi Trademark Refused, Launch Still Planned

Tesla's attempt to trademark the term "Robotaxi" has been denied for being too generic. Nevertheless, the company plans to launch a paid autonomous robotaxi service in Austin, Texas, by June.
